What is Veterinary Ophthalmology?

Eye problems are common in animals, but advances in treatment have enabled our pets to receive care similar to what we experience. At the Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center (SAVS), eye care includes slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmascopy, glaucoma testing and treatment, cataract evaluation, cataract surgery with implants, ocular ultrasound, Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF) examinations, laser surgery, and electroretinography. Our veterinary ophthalmology specialists treat eye traumas as well as evaluate animals for blindness and visual impairment. Our veterinary ophthalmology team is dedicated to providing the finest in veterinary ophthalmology services for your pet. We extend our services to all animals with eyes. We strive to provide the highest level of care, education, and understanding to our clients, your pet, and your primary veterinarian. We know better than anyone that prompt attention to and therapy for any ocular condition is vital to preserving vision and ensuring a good quality of life for your pet.
