Tammy Owens, DVM
Emergency Medicine

Dr. Tammy Owens spent the earlier part of her childhood in Lake Havasu City but then moved to Sandpoint, Idaho. Her undergraduate years were spent at one of the "seven sisters", Bryn Mawr College (in Pennsylvania) where she graduated with a degree in biology (focus on molecular biology) and a minor in chemistry. She spent a few years in Philadelphia working at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in an immunology lab and volunteering as an EMT. Later, she moved to Las Vegas, became a licensed veterinary technician where she found her passion for veterinary medicine. She moved on to The Ohio State University and received her DVM in 2009. Dr. Owens completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Mississippi State University before joining the team at SAVSEC. She shares her home with a small herd of cats. Outside interests include reading, traveling, movies, and various outdoor activities.
