Peter D. Bates, D.V.M.

Dentistry

Dr. Peter Bates is a 1971 graduate of Michigan State University (D.V.M.) who moved to Arizona in 1972. His post-doctoral (non-degree) studies included computer science at Arizona State University and independent research in cardiovascular pharmacology through the University of Arizona.

Following seven years in private and institutional practice, he was invited to join the staff at St. Luke's Medical Center as Director of Medical Research. He remained there for ten years, serving as a member of the Medical Staff Research Committee and as chairman of the Technology Assessment Committee in addition to participating in independent and collaborative research projects.

After working in medical research for fifteen years, Dr. Bates returned to full time clinical practice in 1994. He began his dentistry residency with Arizona Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery in January, 2004. His practice is now limited to dentistry and oral surgery in dogs and cats. Clinical interests include computer applications in veterinary dentistry, oral microsurgery and micro-dentistry.
