Dr. Klaus hails from the Great White North. She graduated with distinction from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 2004. During veterinary school summers Dr. Klaus worked at a local small animal emergency clinic in her home town of Edmonton, Alberta, where she gained a true appreciation for veterinary emergency and critical care.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Klaus pursued an internship at the Animal Emergency Center in Milwaukee. The subsequent year she continued on at the Animal Emergency Center as a resident in Emergency and Critical Care, completing the program in 2008.
Ready for the sun, Dr. Klaus joined the Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in October 2008 and achieved board certification in veterinary emergency and critical care in 2009. She is currently chief director of the emergency service and internship program at Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center.
Dr. Klaus' special interests include emergency surgery, trauma, coagulation disorders and nutrition in the critically ill. A 5 foot iguana, 2 kitties and a pack of Chihuahuas share her home. Dr. Klaus is fluent in French and enjoys painting, scuba diving and traveling abroad when time permits.
