Dr. Tara Ehling was born and raised in rural Kansas. She
always knew she wanted to work with animals because they were a
part of daily life as she was growing up. Rabbits, horses,
sheep, cattle, dogs and cats were just a few of her companions
in the country. It was through watching the local veterinarian
treat and care for her 4-H bucket calf that she was first
exposed to veterinary medicine. That experience turned into a
dream of helping animals and the people that care for them.
That dream was much closer to becoming a reality when Dr.
Ehling gained a lot more experience as a veterinary client.
While she was completing her undergraduate degree, her 4-H
obedience and showmanship dog, a yellow Labrador, was diagnosed
with B-cell lymphoma. Weekly appointments with the oncology
service at Kansas State University College of Veterinary
Medicine helped guide some of her primary interests into that
field of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Ehling later went on to graduate from Kansas State
University College of Veterinary Medicine. She also holds a
degree from Kansas State University College of Agriculture with
a B.S. in Animal Sciences and Industry as well as a Leadership
Studies minor.
She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association
and the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Ehling hopes to receive further training and specialize
sometime in the near future. She enjoys photography, spending
time with her family and playing softball. Since moving to
Arizona, her family is developing an interest in hiking and they
love having the mountains within sight every day!
