S.A.V. Bood Bank

Pets Saving Lives

The Southern Arizona Veterinary Blood Bank is dedicated to serving the city of Tucson and surrounding communities. Pets need blood and plasma just like people. Time is of the essence in a crisis, and in this spirit the blood bank allows us to assist our patients quickly with blood products on hand at all times.

We are currently stocking both our Ft. Lowell and Broadway locations, and selling products to veterinarians in the community. We have an active donor pool consisting of over 35 life-saving dogs and cats.

We are always looking for more heroes (canine and feline), so if you feel like you might have a life-saver living in your house, please feel free to contact one of our two facilities. Our blood bank coordinator will get in touch with you to set up an orientation appointment or you can directly email: bloodbank@southernazvets.com.

IF YOUR PET MEETS THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA... THEY CAN BE A HERO TOO...

  • Between the ages of 1-7
  • Over 50 lbs for dogs and over 10 lbs for cats
  • Willing to be on Flea/Tick and Heartworm preventatives year round
  • Never been pregnant
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Current on all vaccinations
  • Indoor only for cats and dogs with limited travel history
  • Of good overall temperament

There are great incentives that go along with participation including; thorough laboratory evaluation initially, yearly complete physical examination at each visit and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives provided at no charge.
