Veterinary Dermatology Resident

Dr. Berger was born and raised in the state of Iowa, and began his residency with Dermatology for Animals in July of 2009. Prior to moving to Arizona, he attended the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 2003. He then attended veterinary school at Iowa State University and graduated in 2007. Following graduation Dr. Berger entered general practice with a private hospital in Des Moines, IA as well as acted as a relief veterinarian for the Des Moines area. After a year in general practice he accepted a position as a daytime emergency veterinarian with Iowa Veterinary Specialties where he also had the opportunity to work closely with a board-certified internist and surgeon.

During veterinary school, Dr. Berger had the opportunity to work closely with two board-certified dermatologists where he began to discover his passion for diagnosing and managing dermatological cases. While in general practice Dr. Berger treated a majority of the dermatological patients that were brought to his hospital, while continuing to collaborate with the dermatologists at Iowa State University reviewing recent literature and cases.

Dr. Berger enjoys all aspects of veterinary dermatology but he has a special interest in fungal disease and allergies. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology.

Dr. Berger practices out of several locations including the Phoenix metro area (Gilbert, Glendale, Avondale, and Scottsdale), Tucson (Ft. Lowell and Broadway locations), and Nebraska (Omaha). His interests include attending sporting events, participating in outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with his wife. He also has one very energetic, allergic Rat Terrier named Hayden.
